Dr. Patrick Coyle serves as a Professor of Information Technology and Information Security at Peirce College. He joined Peirce in 2006. During his time at Peirce, he has served as Chair of the Writing and Information Literacy Committee, Group Leader of the Teaching and Learning division of the Faculty Mentoring Group and Faculty Facilitator of the Information Technology Student Association and Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter. Dr. Coyle was also instrumental in developing and implementing a college-wide Writing Intensive Program for undergraduate students.
He was honored as a recipient of the Peirce College STAR Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012 and with the prestigious Hamilton Award for epitomizing academic excellence, dignity and service to the college community in 2016.
In addition to over 20 years of experience educating adult learners, Dr. Coyle has over 20 years of combined experience in the Information Technology and Information Security fields.
Before turning to education as a full-time occupation, he most recently worked as a Manager of Corporate Security and Regulatory Affairs for a Fortune 25 pharmaceutical distributor. In this capacity, he served as Principal Coordinator for that company's participation in the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Controlled Substance Ordering System (CSOS), which allows hospital, pharmacies and special care facilities to order controlled substances electronically through the use of secure, encrypted digital certificates and as Liaison to the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) regarding the licensing of company distribution centers. Additionally, he managed adherence to corporate security mandates, as well as state and federal regulatory compliance, in assigned corporate wholesale pharmaceutical distribution centers throughout the United States and performed Security, Regulatory, HIPAA, OSHA and DOT audits in corporate distribution centers throughout the country.
Dr. Coyle's academic credits include a Master's degree in Information Security, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Adult Education.
