Philadelphia - The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Peirce College are collaborating to expand access to flexible, online programs designed for busy adults that can prepare Commonwealth employees for professional development and advancement.
Through a cooperative agreement, full time and part time employees working at more than 25 Commonwealth agencies are now eligible for a 25% tuition discount on all online undergraduate and graduate programs offered at Peirce College, a national leader in the assessment of prior learning and maximizing transfer credits to help students save time and money.
“Pursuing additional education to advance your career is a tremendous commitment. It takes hard work and sacrifice to balance the demands of job, school, and family and be successful,” said Secretary of Administration Neil Weaver. “Working with Pennsylvania’s higher education institutions to make tuition more affordable is one way we can support employees and their families on this journey. We are pleased for Peirce College to join us in making these opportunities possible.”
In addition to tuition discounts, Peirce will explore whether select professional training provided by the Commonwealth can be awarded as credit to Peirce degree programs and certificates. This will provide an additional way for Commonwealth employees to save time and money.
“We are honored to collaborate with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which places such a high value on professional development through academic excellence, innovation and flexibility” said Dr. Rita Toliver-Roberts, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost at Peirce College. “As the only institution of higher education based in Pennsylvania that is dedicated exclusively to serving the unique needs of adult learners, this collaboration is a great fit for Peirce.”
Nearly 73,000 Commonwealth employees can choose from affordable, online degree programs and stackable certificates at Peirce that are designed around the unique needs of busy adult learners and allow students to earn credit for expertise they have gained in their careers and in their lives, including professional and military training. Peirce’s academic portfolio includes a wide range of career-focused programs in business; cybersecurity; diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB); healthcare administration; health information management; information technology; legal studies; organizational leadership; project management; and public health.
