The Peirce College Criminal Justice associate and bachelor’s degree programs approach the study of Criminal Justice from both a practical and theoretical perspective. Because the field of criminal justice is constantly evolving, our students
will engage in a full range of courses that lay the basic foundation of knowledge required to work in the field of criminal justice.
Peirce awards credits for Philadelphia Police Academy training and Philadelphia's Division of Prison training, and allows you to embed employer-recognized certifications into your program.
Our program consists of a variety of courses designed to cater to students’ individual interests within the field. Students will work directly with faculty members who are practitioners in the criminal justice field, preparing them to deal with
real life examples of issues that arise in the field of criminal justice and learning the critical thinking and effective communication skills necessary to successfully negotiate those issues.
Associate and bachelor's students take classes in Criminal Court Systems, Victimization, Criminology, Homeland Security, Computer Crimes, Ethics in Criminal Justice and Introduction to Criminal Justice Research, so you can learn the ins and outs of
the American justice system. Those enrolled in the bachelor's level program will advance to courses like Law Enforcement & Police in Society, The Correctional System, Advanced Criminal Law and Procedure, Victims and Victimization and Advanced
Criminal Law and Procedure.
Motivated students who meet the academic requirements and want an even more robust exposure to the principals of criminal justice can join Alpha Phi Sigma, a criminal justice honor society founded in 1942.
And at Peirce, our professors have real world experience: many of them serve as judges, attorneys, police officers or security experts. That means they're able to help you to really understand what it’s like to work in the field and learn the
skills necessary for a successful career. Graduates generally find opportunities to join the police force, work in the judicial system, find a job with a government agency or work as a private investigator.
