Students, strengthen your leadership skills with our retreat!
Students, strengthen your leadership skills with our retreat!
We know that many of our students want to earn their college degrees so they can transition into leadership roles in their jobs or apply for new positions at different organizations. Accordingly, we are always focused on helping students cultivate their leadership skills throughout their time at the College, inside and outside of the classroom.
One of the ways we do this is through our Student Leadership Retreat. Each year, we invite students to take a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives to focus on building their leadership styles and abilities. They participate in a personal assessment to measure their strengths and weaknesses at the beginning of the retreat. They then get to spend the weekend developing their skills through a variety of workshops and activities (both indoor and out) that focus on communication and leadership, the importance of listening, emotional leadership, the various styles of leadership, and working in a group effectively.
We invite a keynote speaker each year who speaks on building your leadership skills. Some of our past keynotes include Peirce alum Nakia Stokes and other notable members of our community. But it’s not all business! We’ll also have plenty of time for students and staff to enjoy some downtime, including a movie night. Students who’ve attended our retreat in the past have said this weekend helped them create new friendships with peers, strengthen their relationship with the College, and build leadership skills they directly applied to their careers.
This year’s retreat will be held from March 14 through March 16 at Bryn Mawr Mountain Retreat & Conference Center in Honesdale, Penn. We’ll provide transportation to and from the retreat. We require a $20 deposit during the registration process that will be returned after the retreat. If you’re interested in the opportunity, contact the Walker Center at 888.467.3472, ext. 9251, or email wcae@peirce.edu. Spots are filling up quickly, so give us a call today!
