Parent Pathways Program Launches at Peirce
Parent Pathways Program Launches at Peirce
Since 1865, Peirce has been serving the unique needs of non-traditional and adult students through the ongoing evolution of programs that provide students with academic excellence, flexibility and personalized support. To continue supporting our students, the College has officially launched a new program to help parenting students overcome obstacles in pursuit of their college credential. The Parent Pathway Program will reduce financial and basic needs barriers and increase informational and programming resources as students complete an undergraduate degree or certificate.
Thirteen students have already been accepted into the program, which consists of four essential elements to support parenting students, especially those close to completing a credential, including:
- Scholarships for assistance with their last course(s)
- Access to a parent-specific emergency grant fund
- A grocery store stipend to help with food costs
- A Parenting Resource Center that provides a one-stop shop for resources, events, workshops, and more dedicated to helping students balance their education and parenting responsibilities.
The Parent Pathways Program is expected to increase graduation and retention rates and improve the average GPA of participants. Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
