Take Part in MLK Day of Service 2025!
The 30th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025. Each year we honor Dr. King’s legacy through service, volunteerism and joining together in service to help the lives of others. Take part and get involved with one of the many opportunities in the area. Below are just a few activities to join, but check out the full list online.

MLK Day of Service projects at City of Philadelphia Parks & Rec Sites
Whatever your passions or interests, there’s a Day of Service activity for you. You can help with: food distribution and donation, equitable information sessions, clean ups at parks and recreation centers, or voter registration.

- Where: various locations throughout the city
King Day of Service at Martin Luther King Jr Rec. Center
The Martin Luther King Jr. Center provides a full day of activities for the community in the following areas: Job Readiness, Financial Literacy for Teens, as well as Health and Wellness.

MLK Beautification Day at Haverford Library – Free Library of Philadelphia
Join in on beautifying the Haverford Branch Library! Make this library an inviting space for all. All are welcome to create a colorful and greener space for the Haverford community to learn, commune and build. Be a part of Martin Luther King’s vision for the beloved community on MLK day 2025.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day and School Supplies Drive at The National Constitution Center
The National Constitution Center is organizing the donation of books and school supplies for Philadelphia school students. Donations of newly purchased school supplies, including pens, pencils, crayons, copy paper, hand sanitizer, folders, and age-appropriate books, can be dropped off at the Center and will be donated to the School District of Philadelphia.

MLK Day of Service in Wissahickon Valley Park
This year, they will be completing a variety of projects around Blue Bell Park, including removing invasive vines and cleaning up litter. This will not only make this area of the park more beautiful, but it will keep our watershed healthier for all. All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. Attendees can work within their own comfort level. Gloves, tools, and instruction are provided – you just need to show up. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you.

MLK Day of Service Community Clean Up at Historic Fair Hill
On MLK Day of Service, volunteers will clean up trash along the blocks surrounding the property to help beautify the neighborhood. Children are welcome, if accompanied by an adult, and can help with raking, moving tree branches, and garden work on the grounds. The activity starts at 10AM. At noon, volunteers will gather by a fire to reflect on Dr. King, sing freedom hymns, and read aloud excerpts from speeches.

MLK Day of Service / Feed the Hungry with Grands As Parents, Inc.
Volunteers are needed to help with cooking and serving the food, setting up chairs and tables, and placing clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. on tables for guests to take. Volunteers will also hand out giveaways, tote bags, socks, toiletries, etc. of whatever is gathered for this event.
