The Peirce Legacy Continues as Dan and Ashley Amadio Follow in their Mother’s Footsteps
As a continuation of the Summer Graduate Series 2019, instead of featuring just one graduate, why not feature two!
Daniel (Dan) and Ashley Amadio are brother and sister who both enrolled at Peirce College eager to earn their degree.
Unsure of where to go at first, they both enrolled at a different institution in hopes of finding their niche and passion. After taking some classes, they both took a break and began to reflect on what they needed in a college. Both Dan and Ashley knew of Peirce because their mother is a proud graduate from the Class of 1990. After some personal reflection they both took the, “leap of faith” as Dan called it and started their return to college at 1420 Pine Street.
In 2017, Ashley was the first one to make the move to Peirce College enrolling in the Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management program after taking a diverse set of courses previously and finding her true passion for this industry. She said, “I realized how important HR is when it comes to literally any company being successful and I had an interest in business and people.”
Her brother, on the other hand, found his interest in a different field when he enrolled at Peirce in 2018. Dan said, “I decided to go with Information Technology because I have always had a passion and appreciation for technology. Allowing myself the chance to learn and grow in that field is such an honor for me.”
Despite their different degree paths, they actually ended up in class together where they competed to bring out each other’s best. Ashley said, “We actually got to have one class with each other and that was Ethics. We always had debates and competed for the better grades on assignments.” This drive to push each other allowed them both to succeed.
This kind of support is extremely important when deciding to return to college and Dan and Ashley found this support with one another. Ashley explained, “It was such a great experience knowing you have someone right in your house who is going through the same school struggle as you. It was also nice having someone to go to night class with so it wasn’t a lonely commute.”
Additionally, this support extended beyond just each other to their entire family where they gained encouragement and perseverance. Dan said, “I was inspired by the strength of my family to overcome a tough situation. When I was feeling hopeless about my future, they filled me with hope.”
This hope drove both Ashley and Dan to the finish line where they successfully completed their degrees in June 2019. Ashley earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management and Dan earned his Associate in Science in Information Technology.
As they reflect back on their time at Peirce, they both only had positive things to share about their experience. Ashley said, “One of my highlights from Peirce includes how supportive the staff, teachers, and classmates were. Everyone was always welcoming and I always felt like I could receive help if I ever felt like I was struggling.” Dan felt this same welcoming feeling every time he came to campus, “This is going to sound cliché, but one of the things that kept me smiling and really stood out to me at Peirce was the friendly faces you would see every day. From the security guards to the staff and the students.”
Peirce College is honored to have served students like Ashley and Dan who are so dedicated to their studies and supportive of one another. Peirce College is also excited to welcome Dan back as he is now enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Congratulations to both and good luck as they continue to take on life’s next adventure.
