Meet Norman Watford, member of the first-ever Peirce College Criminal Justice Studies graduating class!

Last September, Peirce College expanded the Legal Studies department to include a new Criminal Justice Studies Program.
This 21st century Criminal Justice program focuses on the issues at hand today, is available to complete online, and provides a collaborative approach to learning that includes access to current industry professionals, allowing students to integrate directly into the field.
The inaugural Criminal Justice Studies class is on the verge of graduating at our upcoming Commencement 2014 celebration. Norman Watford is among our first graduates to earn an associate degree in Criminal Justice, and this degree will be the second, but not the last, that he will earn from Peirce.
Despite leaving school for a short period of time in the ninth grade, Norman came back to high school and graduated on time. He quickly began training to be an EMT, but entered the Marines Corps before he could complete the program, where he had a successful career that included a tour in Iraq from February through September of 2009.
After returning from Iraq, Norman began to search for military-friendly schools in the Philadelphia area. He found Peirce to be a good fit and quickly enrolled. Norman says that the College gave him the necessary tools to move forward in his education as a veteran, and in 2013, he earned his associate’s degree in General Studies.
One of Norman’s driving goals in life has always been to help people, which prompted him to register for the EMT program and enlist in the military. When he thought about how this goal could fit in with his skillset and transfer into his future, he knew earning his degree in Criminal Justice was the next step.
Norman found out about the new Criminal Justice Studies program in 2013. After enrolling, he was excited to discover that the professors teaching the program were active members in the field: lawyers, police officers, and other law enforcement positions. He credits the caliber of the Peirce professors to his success in the program. Norman is the recipient of the Outstanding Student Award.
After receiving his associate’s degree in Criminal Justice Studies, Norman plans to pursue his bachelor’s in Business Administration at Peirce, and join the Temple University law enforcement department as an officer.
