Career Development Services’ upcoming Job Fair will be on May 31, where we’ll be hosting local employers who are looking for interns as well as part-time and full-time employees. If you’re looking for a position for this summer and beyond, this is one of the most important events to prepare for and attend.
Employers that have confirmed attendance include Comcast, Cintas, First Financial Group, and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor. With that roster, this is a great opportunity to network and find out what employers are looking for in new hires. We wanted to offer a few tips to help you prepare for the Job Fair.
- Reach out to Career Development Services. We can help you with personalized one-on-one sessions for interview training, elevator speech prep, and more. We’ll also review your resume with you before the Job Fair, which is very important if you’re looking to hand it out at the event. The earlier you begin your outreach, the more time we’ll have to help you.
- Prepare your business attire. Be sure to wear an interview-appropriate outfit to the Job Fair, such as a suit. If you don’t have one, don’t let that stop you from attending. Please contact us because we have relationships with nonprofit organizations such as MenzFit and Career Wardrobe that can help you get a proper outfit to wear.
- Embrace your resources. Our Career Development Services page is just one great resource you can turn to when job hunting. We’ve also covered a number of job- and career-related topics on our blog, and continue to add to these each month. We also just started a Twitter feed at @CDSPeirce to share even more career tips and advice. Be sure to bring any questions you have to the Job Fair, and keep the tips on hand during your job search.
Attending events like the Job Fair will help you develop personally and professionally, as well as network with colleagues and employers.
