Announcing Lisa Nutter as Peirce College’s 2013 Commencement speaker

PHILLY’S FIRST LADY: Ms. Lisa Nutter will be
Peirce College’s 2013 Commencement speaker

We’ve been hard at work finalizing our 2013 Commencement program, and are very excited to announce who will be giving the keynote address on that special evening in June. Our 2013 Commencement speaker will be Lisa Nutter, President of Philadelphia Academies, Inc., and the First Lady of Philadelphia.

As President of Philadelphia Academies, Inc. — a non-profit youth development organization that works in Philadelphia’s public high schools to motivate young people to stay engaged in school — Ms. Nutter aims to expand economic opportunities for students and set them on a positive path. Prior to joining Philadelphia Academies, Inc., Ms. Nutter worked in a variety of industries, including education, community organizing, human services, community development, and arts and culture.

Ms. Nutter is passionate about issues related to social change and youth development, and is active on a local and national scale. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Women’s Community Revitalization Project, Big Picture Philadelphia. She also serves on the Advisory Council for the Pennsylvania Conference for Women.

Ms. Nutter’s commitment to education and community building makes her the perfect fit to speak to the Peirce community on Commencement day, and we couldn’t be more honored to have her. We believe she’s making great strides for the City of Philadelphia, and we’re excited to hear her speak on the Kimmel Center stage.

Peirce College’s 2013 Commencement will be held on Monday, June 10 at 6:45 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. Keep your eyes on the blog for our continued coverage leading up to and after the big event!
