Raymond DeShields takes the stage: Philadelphia Inquirer profiles Peirce College commencement singer
Today’s edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer profiles Raymond DeShields, the Peirce College student who will be singing the national anthem at tonight’s commencement.
Nicole Lockley’s article, “Student poll picks Peirce commencement singer,” highlights Raymond’s victory in the Peirce Idol competition. The sing-off was held by Peirce this spring to determine who would lead the school in the singing of the national anthem at commencement. His audition impressed a panel of judges and the rest of the Peirce community, who watched the audition videos online and cast the majority of their votes for Raymond to be the national anthem singer at Peirce College’s 2010 commencement. The event takes place tonight at the Kimmel Center.
A married father of three, Raymond is currently pursuing his degree in Business Administration from Peirce. But as he admits to Lockley, “music is really my passion.” He beat out several fellow students to earn his spot on stage, and we can’t wait to hear him sing again tonight!
Be sure to read Lockley’s article to learn more about Raymond’s journey to becoming Peirce Idol 2010, and look for him on stage tonight at commencement!
